Snips and butterflies and puppy dog tales......

Thursday again....let's start with puppy dog tales......Oliver has been his usual scampy self. He keeps coming into my craft room and stealing yarn. He has very discerning taste and goes right for the merinos and the mohair. I don't understand the attraction. He takes it and rolls on his back and holding it in his mouth he throws it up and down from his mouth to his paws. The result is a big tangled mess. I am going to leave the camera out so I can catch him in all his glory. This weekend I am going straight to the dollar store and buy more storage containers to put the yarn in. It looks good in baskets but it is too tempting for the poor pup. So for now I have a picture of the evil doer looking very innocent and longingly over the fence to freedom.

While I was in the yard I saw a beautiful Monarch butterfly having lunch in my garden. We see so few of the beauties here in my part of New Jersey that I couldn't resist. I just couldn't get him to open his wings no matter how much I coaxed him! Still a beauty though. That is the last of my Black Eyed Susan's and the still lovely Lantanias.

I Am afraid I have not been taking pictures of my knitting because I am in a knitting pickle. I have started too many projects and I don't know which one to work on. I keep starting things I want to make and not finishing them. I guess it is time to get tough with myself and put away all the projects but one and finish that one. Then move onto the next. I am also doing socks for a KAL and I have only done one sock and not even started the other! I must get back on track. Also a funny little problem keeps me from knitting more....WORK! I work and then think about knitting....I work some more and wish I were knitting...I bring my knitting but it is so busy all I am doing is carrying it back and forth.....I work with the public so I feel they would think it strange if I helped them and were knitting at the same time....sigh....:0( When I retire I think I'll try and get a job in a yarn shop. I love my job ( librarian) but knitting really has it's hooks (needles!) in me. Have a great weekend and I will be posting wonderful pictures of completed projects!

I'm chucking out loud at your yarn stealer... my Lola does that with things like sock balls and empty plastic bottles... and then carries them around like its a prize. Fortunately, mine all seem to leave the yarn alone... however if I left yarn on the coffee table, I'm SURE it'd end up as one of Lola's "prizes"...

Work certainly does get in the way of other pursuits! Oliver (aka the Yarn Thief) is such a handsome boy. My Emma and Tara have never bothered with skeins of yarn. They prefer it after it has been knit into socks...

Ella just steals the kids stuffed animals from their room (that's how she got the Grinch!). She doesn't seem to care about the yarn -- doesn't have good noses to chew! Have a great weekend! :)

The only time Grover steals yarn is when one of the cats has it. I love the pic of Oliver at the fence. Give him a big ole sloppy hug from me and Grover, K?

Oliver looks so sweet and innocent, he is beautiful.
Jonah only steals wool if I am knitting and he feels the need to take something to someone else, then the wool gets to go walk about!! He generally is very careful though it is a pain if he has run around the sofa a few times with it!!

I'm having the same problem with work getting in the way of knitting. it's frustrating!

thanks for your comments on my blog regarding the loss of my friend. comforting words from family, friends, and 'blogpals' really help at a time like this. And thanks for being interested enough to go to the link to learn more about his life as a biologist. Rocky loved what he did and affected many people around him!

Thanks again.

Cute little scamp he is... My boys know to leave my knitting alone, but they have their moments in other ways...

I know all about yarn stealing.
Hutch used to do it when he was younger. On the other hand Starksy will steal yarn all the time.

Madison loves to "steal" my daughters stuffed animals. She tends to leave my knitting stuff alone. Once she did try to chew up a DPN and got it wedged sideways between her teeth. I had to take what was left of the needle out of her mouth. Your dog story made me smile.

Love your Monarch butterfly, we do see these occassionally here. I'm in a constant craft pickle......you're not alone, I have so many things started and probably no real hope of them ever being finished and you know what I started a dishcloth this morning. I'm mad I know but I love the challenge of new things. Who cares so long as we are happy. Enjoy.

Wow, I could have written this post. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a job that interferes with her knitting time. I'm so jealous when I go on people's blogs and they have pics of 15 FO's they've whipped out during the week. ha ha...

Oliver is so cute. I think he thinks he's playing with sheep.
Yep...my job gets in the was of my knitting time too, we're not alone.
I had many monarchs and swallowtails visit my gardens this year in NJ. Do you have any butterfly bushes planted? They frequent mine. I only saw the hummingbird once. He probably visited more while I was working of course.
