KNITTING GAL

July 21, 2007

New friends.....

Thanks to all for leaving a comment and linking me up. It is fun to read the comments and visit each page. I am buzzing along on my pink hand towel and hope to finish it tomorrow. If it looks good I will make another and have a matched set to hang in the powder room. Everyone is off to fun stuff this weekend and tomorrow I get to go to a one year old's birthday party. A sweet little baby named Dalton. It should be fun. He is my sister-in-laws' sister's nephew! Phew- complicated. Anyway I am looking forward to the party. So that pretty much makes up the rest of my weekend and knitting of course. I just read recently that knitting is more than a craft it is a way of life. That is so true. I am a different person when I knit. I feel happy and creative. One of my favorite things to do is organize my stash and put all my needles in their cases and then put the like ones together in plastic storage boxes. I feel so virtuous when my stash is organized. I get new inspiration and find some great yarn and viola a project is born. I enjoy making baby clothes and home decor items. I don't think I have knit more that one thing for myself. Not that I am so generous, I just like to give knitted goodies to folks because it is a piece of me in each gift. I think that is my way of reaching out to people and making contact. Oh well enough pop psychology. I just wanted to post so that all you guys can leave another comment. I will leave you with some of my favorite eye candy as I have no new pics today! Good luck on the contest(see previous post) and can hardly wait to have a winner and send out swag. Keep Knittin' Kittens!

Hi Donna--found your site through NH's site (which I've been lurking on but not commenting...shame on me I know! I'll head over there right now!). It seems like having a contest is a great way to meet new bloggers (and to bring the lurkers out of the woodwork!)...thinking about doing that myself here in a couple weeks when life slows down a bit. Nice eye candy on this post by the way :)

I've enjoyed reading your past posts and will definitely add your blog to my subscriptions!

I'm enjoying your blog! Will have to add you to my list of reads!!

These contests are so fun, and am thinking about doing one, too. I agree, it's so fun to read the comments that others make:o)

I read a comment by a new sock knitter, so thought I'd mention that I've just set up the blog and am getting ready to start a KAL for newbie sock knitters. Apparently there are a few of us who buy the fun yarn but don't make the socks!! We're out to change that! If anyone's interested, you should join us!!

I like making gifts for people as well. I prefer to make something than go to the store and buy it.

Hey! OOH a contest, I agree with everyone else, as a fairly new blogger it seems like a great way to meet new friends and see what they've got on their needles. I've been thinking about it also. I love giving knitting as gifts. It really feels like you are sharing a piece of yourself. I'll be adding your blog to my list! I love the old-school knitting pictures. They're awesome!
(I'll be linking you soon also)

I love to make knitted gifts for people too, but unfortunately, my extended family don't appreciate them. So I've stopped doing that. I make for friends though.

I did the one year old birthday party yesterday and it was a fun one. One years old usually is. They have there own cake to smash and it doesn't matter how messy you are, someone is there to clean you up.

I watched Shakespeare in Love yesterday and I still can't get over that Joseph F. is the hero and not Colin F. What were they thinking?

I love giving knitted gifts also. It is usually just knitted dishrags - but they are always well received.
